There is a distinctly ’90s sensibility running through the song, but Elephant avoid mere nostalgia. Their warm melodies and understated delivery carry a deeper emotional weight, while the guitars create a hypnotic current that draws listeners into the song’s hazy, introspective world. Beneath its laid-back surface, a newfound urgency gives the arrangement greater force, revealing a band growing more confident in its own sound.
Recorded at Wales’ legendary Rockfield Studios with engineer Nick Brine, known for his work on Oasis’ (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, “About You” connects Elephant’s melodic instincts with a sharper, more expansive sound. Following their acclaimed debut Big Thing and 2025 album III, the Rotterdam band embraces its melancholic side without losing sight of the melodies that make its music linger.
